A Marshall woman was charged with a class C felony of possession of a controlled substance except 35 grams or less of marijuana Friday, Dec. 30.
Melissa L. Short, 47, of Marshall, allegedly possessed 1.4 grams of methamphetamine the same day the charges were filed. According to the probable cause statement, Short was the passenger in a vehicle when a traffic stop was conducted for an unsecured child in the back seat of the vehicle.
The officer reports observing sudden erratic movements from Short that were consistent with meth use and performed a search, allegedly finding the contraband in a breath mint tin sewn into her coat seam.
